A full site survey builds on the documented site survey. A full site survey is an opportunity to identify the edible and medicinal plants that can be found on your property, and to learn more about their properties and their uses. The full site survey is a fee-based service1. You irrevocably grant us permission to privately document those plants that are identified on your property. Future collection of plant materials is at the discretion of the owner, and will only be conducted if mutually agreed-upon2.
Plants of interest will be tagged with marking flags bearing a letter code3. This letter code will be associated with the first example of each plant of interest. For example, if Plantago major is identified, then the first example of this species will be marked and recorded.
The identification of plants will be confirmed (if practical) by both the surveyor and the owner. This can be by means of a field guide or a mobile application that supports this activity (there are many available, but I highly recommend "PictureThis", an app for your mobile phone.
At the end of the survey, and before departing the property, a list of plants that have been identified during the survey will be emailed to the owner, as either a text file or a .CSV file suitable for importing into a spreadsheet4. The owner will select from this list which plants warrant a "Plant detail report", and will notify Fantastic Foragers by email which plants have been selected.
Within one week after the owner has notified us by email which plants require a "Plant detail report", and after payment has been received5, a "Plant detail report" will be emailed to the owner that describes information about each of the plants identified for reporting, showing the name of the plant, its identifying characteristics, its edible and medicinal applications, a list of its properties, a list of its uses, a list of appropriate herbal and technical resources, and the primary preparations for how to use the plant.
