Creation or evolution, it's the natural way.

Native plants exist in the environments that they live in because they are naturally adapted to those environments. Because of this, they require less maintenance than non-native cultivated plants. Whether it be water, feeding, pruning, or other maintenance activities, native plants need less of it. Surprisingly enough, native plants can reduce the amount of work required to maintain your garden or landscaping.

It's all about the ecosystem.

All of the plants and animals (and other minor classifications) that exist in a specific area are considered to be the ecosystem of that area. Ecosystems can be very complex, and involve the interactions between all of the plants and animals in a particular habitat. The interactions between all of these plants and animals determines the success or failure of one or many of the organisms in that ecosystem. One example of this is that if the right plants are not available for the Northern Cardinal, then the coloration of the male cardinals can be impacted, and the breeding strength of the cardinal population is decreased...plant the wrong plant and you can impact bird populations!

Don't bug the bugs.

Not all of us like "bugs" (there is really only one classification of true bugs...not everybody is included), but they are a necessary part of our ecosystem. All of those creepy critters that we try vainly to keep away from us are responsible for some critical part of how our world operates.  Some act as pollinators, some act as predators, some act as scavengers, and some act as food for other creatures. Native plants support the insects that are most beneficial to the ecosystem in which they live. When native plants are not present, the entire ecosystem can be impacted, and other plants and animals might either die, become weakened, or have to move to new environments.

By the way, if you don't want the bugs bugging you without poisoning the environment, then "Ticks Me Off" is the product for you. It is made from only plant materials! You can purchase it here.
